Western Diamondback Rattle Snake

Crotalus atrox

Western diamondback is the largest species of rattlesnake. There are no recognized subspecies.

From first glance it would almost be impossible to key this snake as a rattlesnake from the picture below. Luckily the camera was triggered and able to capture a clear picture of the rattle on its tail right before it left the view of the camera.
